Overcome what’s holding you back, so that you can break through to the next level.
Overcome what’s holding you back, so that you can break through to the next level.
How we lead ourselves and others impacts the world around us - for better or worse. In the past century, we have seen leaders free an entire ethnic group, liberate people from apartheid, and create a holocaust. Leadership matters.
Despite the fact that most of my upbringing wouldn’t groom me for leadership, some of the pain and challenge of my youth gave me a passion for helping others and making a significant difference in this world. I used to call it “my burden.” It drove me to get better, and to find a way to serve and make a difference in this world.
Early in my 20’s, I stumbled into the Global Leadership Summit event at my local church and felt like they were talking my language. Ever since then, I have been leading something and learning about leadership. For whatever reason, I believe God chose and designed me to be a leader. But more than that, I had a passion for the craft of leadership itself because I had a passion for people. The better the leader, the more people you can impact. As John Maxwell says, "When the leader gets better, everyone wins."
But as I pursued my calling first in business and then in ministry, I saw the dark side of leadership: higher levels of stress, crushing responsibilities, anxiety, fatigue, burnout, criticism, scrutiny, lack of results, failure, conflict, relational fallout, and high profile scandals. Leadership has a price!
I knew I was called to lead, but I began to see such few examples of those who truly lead well. So I committed to become the best I can be for the glory of God and to serve His purposes on this earth, and do all I can to help others do the same. Growing up with a stutter has taught me much about tenacity and overcoming what holds you back. It’s kind of my super power.
As I’ve grown in my own leadership, I’ve come to see personal leadership, self awareness, emotional intelligence, building a life team, character development, integrity, assertiveness training, conflict management, strategic creativity, building culture, leading change, communication, trust building, and productivity as things I can specialize in. But perhaps my most powerful gift is encouragement.
The ability to overcome the struggles we all face in life has become a grace. It’s something I feel I can do in a special way I’ve never seen someone else do. I love serving leaders by helping them overcome what is holding them back so they can go to the next level in life and in leadership.
The more I met leaders, the more I saw how leaders needed a place to grow, as well as other leaders to guide them higher and encourage them on the sometimes lonely road of the high calling of leading others' destinies.
Leaders matter. Their souls matter. Their families matter. Their missions and businesses matter. And the teams they lead deserve their best. I’d love you to be part of a community of extraordinary people committed to becoming their best for sake of the world and the glory of God.
